Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on-site March 27, 2023. The director was available during the inspection. There were 20 children present, ranging in ages from 11 months to 5 years, with 5 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Based on observation and interview on March 27, 2023, the center failed to ensure that children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water after diapering.
Evidence: In the infant room, staff #6 was observed to not wash child #2's hands with soap and running water after diapering. Staff #6 said she forgot.

Standard 8VAC20-780-570-A
Based on observation and interview on March 27, 2023, the center failed to ensure when a child is placed in an infant seat or high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely.
Evidence: At lunchtime, child #4 was observed sitting in a high chair and was unstrapped. Staff #4 confirmed the child was not strapped in the seat.
