Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A focused monitoring inspection was initiated on 4/30/2021 and concluded on 4/30/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 108 children present and 14 staff. This visit focused on the main areas of previous non-compliance.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard 22VAC40-185-450-A
Based on observation, the center did not ensure all mats being used by children contained a top and bottom cover. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed that one 3-year old child in the Greenbirds I classroom, and two 3 year-old children in the Greenbirds II classroom did not have bottom covers on their rest mats during naptime.

Standard 22VAC40-185-570-A
Based on observation, the center did not ensure that when a child is placed in an infant seat or high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely. Evidence: 1. The licensing inspector observed Child #1 (six months old) seated at a feeding table in the Babybirds II classroom with no safety belt fastened. 2. The licensing inspector observed Child #2 (13 months old) seated at a feeding table in the Babybirds I classroom with no safety belt fastened.
