Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on March 11, 2024 between the hours of 10:30 am through 11:30am. There were a total of eight children (17points) observed with two caregivers. A total of five children's files and four staff/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, dancing and singing, bathroom breaks, hand washing, and other organized activities. Standard 8VAC20-800-140-B-3
Based on record review and interview, the provider did not ensure that current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as appropriate to the age of the children in care, is obtained every two years.
Evidence:
1. Caregiver #1's and Caregiver #2's most recent CPR certification is dated 02/01/2022. The caregivers certification expired on 02/01/2024.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that certification in CPR was expired for themselves and Caregiver #2.
Plan of Correction: The caregivers will call the trainer and schedule a class to get certified in CPR.

Based on record review and interview, the provider did not ensure that current certification in first aid was obtained.
Evidence:
1. Caregiver #1's and Caregiver #2's most recent certification was dated 02/01/2022. The certification in first aid expired on 02/02/2024 for Caregiver #1 and Caregiver #2.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that certification in first aid was expired for themselves and Caregiver #2.
Plan of Correction: The provider will call the trainer to schedule a class to get certified in first aid.
