Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring Inspection was conducted on April 30, 2024. Upon arrival at 12:30 pm there were a total of 4 children ages 2-4 years old, under the care of 1 staff present. The Licensing Inspector reviewed children, staff/household and pet records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on inspection & discussion with the Provider, the Licensee failed to have a carbon monoxide detector in each building that was built before 2015 and that houses a child day program that serves preschool-age children.

EVIDENCE:
FDH was not equipped with a carbon monoxide detector.
Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase a carbon monoxide detector or locate a previously purchased carbon monoxide detector.
Standard 8VAC20-800-320-A
Based on inspection, the Licensee failed to ensure small electrical appliances unplugged unless being used by the caregiver or with children under close supervision.

EVIDENCE:
Small electrical appliances located in the kitchen were plugged into the electrical outlets while not in use.
Plan of Correction: Provider will keep small appliances unplugged when not in use. Corrected during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-800-350-E
Based on inspection, the Licensee failed to maintain hot water temperature at taps available to the children within a range of 105 degrees F to 120 degrees F.

EVIDENCE:
The hot water temperature in the bathroom sink used by the children in care registered 128.3 degrees F.
Plan of Correction: Provider will adjust water heater temperature.
