Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:40 AM -1:45 PM. At the time of entrance, 62 children were in care with 13 staff members present. The sample size consisted of 6 children?s records and 6 staff records. Children were observed playing outside, during lunch, rest period and engaged in small group activities. Violations were found and are identified within this report. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.
Violations
3Evidence: The following inadequate fall zones were observed on the playgrounds.
1.On the playground there was a double slide that required a minimum of 6 inches of resilient surfacing, and it measured between 3 ? to 4 ? inches at the base of the slide chute.
2.On the playground there was a single slide that required a minimum of 6 inches of resilient surfacing, and it measured between 4 to 5 inches at the base of the slide chute
Evidence: The following classrooms had inadequate space between the cots/ rest mats during naptime.
1.In Toddler Room #1, there were 6 cots in small room and 5 of the cots were between 2 and 4 inches apart.
2. In Toddler Room #2, there were 13 cots and 2 of the cots only had 6 inches between them.
Evidence: In the following classrooms children did not wash their hands regrading eating.
1.In Toddler Room #1, 11 children were observed preparing for and eating lunch and they did not wash their hands prior to eating.
2. In Children?s House #1, 5 children were observed eating their lunch and after they were finished eating, they put away their items and then began to work on classroom activities. Classroom staff confirmed they did not wash their hands.
