Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/08/2022 from 10:00am to 11:40am. At the time of entrance, 53 children were in care with 17 staff members present. Children were observed doing the following: sitting at circle time singing songs, playing outside and climbing in and out of a tunnel in the classroom. The infants were observed doing the following: Catching bubbles on the playground and listening to music, swinging in an infant swing, sleeping in a crib, watching the teacher play with puppets, diaper changes, playing in an exersaucer, washing hands and playing on the floor. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, medications, allergy action plans, evacuation drills and attendance records were reviewed. 1. In the Preschool 3 classroom, a spray bottle filled with bleach water was in an unlocked cabinet above the sink. The safety lock was not latched/engaged.
2. In the Preschool 2 classroom, a spray bottle filled with bleach water was in an unlocked cabinet. The safety lock was not latched/engage. It was hanging.
Evidence:
1. During the time of the inspection, there was no documentation of written procedures for the prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma to include coping with crying babies.
2. Staff # 1 confirmed that written procedures for shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma had not been established.
