Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted today. A total of 66 children with 23 staff was onsite. Observation of the center which included classrooms, bathrooms and playground was made. Medications onsite were reviewed, The center was found maintained and organized. Positive interaction was observed between staff and children. Artwork completed by the children such as pasta mobiles were hung in classrooms, Staff were reading books to children in circle time, the children were engaged in an activity in the 3C classroom that included creativity and imagination. Both staff and children's records were reviewed and found complete. Previous violations were reviewed and corrective actions were verified. This inspection occurred between 10:45am and 12:45am. Based on observation of the center, food was not stored separately from cleaning and sanitizing materials.
Evidence:
Food stored in the 1A and 2A classrooms was not separate from cleaning agents.
Plan of Correction: The food will be stored away from any cleaning agents.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-E
Based on review of medication, medication was not stored in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Evidence:
According to the manufacturer's instructions for 2 medications in the 1A classroom, the medication was to be stored at room temperature. Both medications were found stored in the refrigerator.
Plan of Correction: This medication will be stored at room temperature.

Based on review of medication, one medication was not properly labeled.
Evidence:
An emergency medication in Room 2A was not labeled with the child's name.
Plan of Correction: We will request this medication be labeled by the pharmacy.
