Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 09/12/2022. There were 13 children, ages 3 years-4 years, 2 staff members providing direct care and supervision and various support staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed during learning activities. A total of 5 children?s records and 3 staff records were reviewed. The inspector arrived to the center at 9:00 am and departed at 10:15 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that medication, except for those prescriptions designated otherwise by written physician?s orders, including refrigerated medication and staff?s personal medication, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: There was a basket of various items on the counter by the sink in the classroom. The basket contained a bottle of Tums and a bottle of ibuprofen. The medication was unlocked and accessible to the children.
Plan of Correction: The basket was locked during the inspection.
