Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/26/2024 from 11:36 am to 3:06 pm. There were 80 children in care, ages two and a half years to six years, in five groups under the care of 11 staff. Four child records, five staff records, three medications and associated records, and other documents were reviewed. Children were observed in free play outdoors, handwashing, and having lunch.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on staff record review, the center failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the center obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon completion of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia.

EVIDENCE:
Staff 5 has a documented employment date of 8/14/2023 and the eligibility letter was dated 9/21/2023.
Plan of Correction: From this point forward, eligibility letters will be obtained prior to employment.
