Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today between the hours of 9:00am-11:00am. There were a total of 21 children with four staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, centers, and engaged in group activities. A selection of staff and children records, and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Based on observation, cots were not identified for use by a specific child.
Evidence:
1. All of the cots for children were not identified for use by a specific child.
Plan of Correction: The cots will be labeled to day with each child's name.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, children's hands were not washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks.
Evidence:
1. Two children did not wash their hands with soap and running water after eating their morning snack.
2. One child did not wash their hands with soap and running water before eating morning snack.
Plan of Correction: The center will review handwashing procedures and times with the children and staff.
