8VAC20-780 Staffing and Supervision.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on 06/15/2023 and concluded 06/16/2023. Administrative Staff were interviewed, staff schedules, attendance records, daily activity schedules and security camera footage were reviewed. There were 53 children, ages 5 - 11 years, and 4 staff providing direct supervision present during the inspection. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 3:10PM and departed at 3:36PM. Information gathered during the inspection did not support the complaint and therefore the complaint was determined to be not valid. The information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations unrelated to the
complaint were issued.

Based on observation and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that for each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

Evidence:
1. Daily attendance records for 6/7/2023 document the arrival of 66 children and on the day of the inspection did not document the departure for 15 children.
2. Daily attendance records for 6/9/2023 document the arrival of 61 children and on the day of the inspection did not document the departure for 13 children.
Plan of Correction: Staff will take attendance at time of arrival and departure.
