Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:45 - 11:25 AM. The Inspector arrived to find 26 children with 12 staff. The children were observed in their class or outside playing. There were no children currently enrolled with medication needs. The staff all have completed Preservice, CPR, and various staff have MAT certification. Emergency procedures were discussed as was storage of emergency supplies and practice drills were recorded. Files and required permits were reviewed. Please call with questions 703 479-4679

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, it was determined there are counter tops not maintained in a clean condition.
Evidence:
1. Counter tops in the Achiever and the Navigator classroom have cracks and pieces ripped off leaving the particle board exposed.
Plan of Correction: These will be the first classes to have counter tops replaced.
Standard 8VAC20-780-330-F
Based on observation it was determined the center does not have a shady area provided on the playground during the summer months.
Evidence:
1. The playground is next to the building but there is not shade throughout the day.
Plan of Correction: Obtain proposals date for contractors to install shaded area.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, it was determined the center is not ensuring the diapering surface is only used for diapering.
Evidence:
1. The changing surface in the Explorer and the Navigator class had materials left on the diapering surface.
Plan of Correction: Remind staff that the changing surfaces are to always be clean and free of materials. Materials were removed from changing surface.
