An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:07 am-12:30pm. At the time of entrance, 86 children were in care with 22 staff members present. Children were observed during diaper changes, (infants) playing on the floor, singing in circle time, listening to the teacher read a book, coloring on dry erase boards with markers, participating in fitness class throwing bean bags, washing hands and preparing for snack, eating snack, reading books in the library area, lining up to use the restroom and washing hands, participating in a group activity (counting marshmallows and then finding the number on the table), playing in centers and listening to directions before breaking out into various activities (coloring and writing numbers, an art activity with cups, markers and glitter, making snowflakes with rubber bands and shopping for food before a snow storm in home living center). The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. Walls and bulletin boards of the programming space was decorated with holiday artwork completed by the children. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, 13 allergy action plans, evacuation drills, attendance records, injury reports, medications and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed.
