Inspector Notes

An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 2/28/24 from 10:50am to 2:30pm in conjunction with a monitoring inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Six staff records were reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice Training, Health & Safety Update training, and current certification in First Aid and CPR. There are children currently enrolled with diagnosed food allergies and their records were reviewed for allergy care plans. The last lockdown drill was documented on 10/4/23. Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by close of business on 3/11/24. Plans of correction should include steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard, and measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again.

Based on review of six staff records, the center did not ensure that staff who work directly with children annually completed the department?s health and safety update course. Evidence: The most recent health and safety update training on record for Staff #1 was dated 10/11/22. The most recent health safety update training on record for Staff #3 was dated 1/9/23. There was no health and safety update training on record for Staff #4. The training was required for Staff #4 by 12/10/23.
Plan of Correction: Going forward we will ensure that all staff are in compliance with the code.
