Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:50am-1:10pm. There were 42 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed transitioning to naptime, eating and having tummy time. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review, the facility did not ensure staff identified as program leaders met program leader qualifications.

Based on observation, behavioral guidance was not constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and intended to redirect a child to appropriate behavior.

Evidence:
During the inspection, the Licensing Inspector heard Staff #5 yelling at a child: "Look the other way." The staff member used a rough and loud tone of voice with the child, as all the children were lying down on their cots to rest.
