Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring Inspection was conducted today. A total of 44 children with 9 staff were onsite during the inspection. A walk thru of all classrooms was made along with the playground area. The children were observed transitioning from lunch to nap time in the Toddler 1 and 2 classrooms. Hand washing and diapering procedures were observed. The PreK class was outside on the playground and the Preschool classes were inside their classrooms participating in scheduled centers and engaging with staff. Staff were observed assisting children with washing hands, reading a book in small groups and preparing for nap time, The rooms and hallways were decorated with artwork completed by the children which coincided with the lesson plan for the week. A total of 3 children's records, medication authorizations/topical ointment authorizations and 4 staff records were reviewed. New Director of record's qualifications were reviewed and verified. Based on review of medication, children with emergency medication was not always in the care of a staff member with current medication administration training.
Evidence:
Two Auvi-Q injectors were onsite. No staff were present with current Auvi-Q training.
Plan of Correction: Staff will complete the renewal for the Auvi-Q training this afternoon. Going forward, any medication training that is due to expire will be completed prior to the expiration date.

Based on review of medication onsite, the center failed to follow their own procedures on medication administration.
Evidence:
A parent medication authorization for Child #1was not renewed after 10 working days.
Plan of Correction: This medication is no longer needed. The medication will be returned to the parent today.

Based on review of medication onsite, one medication was not properly labeled.
Evidence:
A bottle of ibuprofen located in the Toddler 1 Classroom was not labeled with the child's name.
Plan of Correction: This medication is no longer needed and will be returned to the parent today.
