During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 10/02/2024, as a part of licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 10:15am and ended at 12:20pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 37 children present and 10 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
One area of the center and 2 pieces of equipment were not maintained in a safe condition.

The area of the wall behind the trashcan in the Preschool 1 classroom has peeling drywall. This area is accessible to children in care.

Two tricycles located outside on the playground had peeling paint and rusted areas on the handlebars.
Plan of Correction: Both of these will be repaired.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Disposable diapers shall be disposed in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.

The step on pale used for diaper disposal in the Toddler 1 classroom is broken, requiring staff to use their hands to open the pale.
Plan of Correction: We will replace the step on pale with a new one.

Medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Two medications for Child #3 were stored in an unlocked bag inside a backpack.
Plan of Correction: The backpack was inaccessible to children but the medication will be stored in a locking medication plastic bag.

A written care plan for one child with a diagnosed food allergy did not include instructions from a physician.

The written care plan for Child # 3 was not completed by a physician.
Plan of Correction: The action plan will be given to the parent to have the physician review and sign.
