Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by staff using an alternative remote protocol, including phone interview, records review, and a virtual observations. An on-site inspection was not conducted at this time.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at 10:02am. The program director was contacted by phone to initiate the inspection. There were 20 children and 5 direct-care staff present. Ratios were in compliance at the time of the inspection. Children were observed going outside for active play, having indoor play time, writing, and doing educational activities. The facility was found to be clean, and classrooms were well supplied with toys and equipment for the children.
Information gathered during the inspection determined there were areas of non-compliance with applicable standards or laws reviewed. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Standard 8VAC20-780-70
Based on records reviewed and information received, it was determined that 2 of 3 staff records did not include documentation of education requirements for the job position which they are working.

Evidence:

1. Staff #1 - The college transcripts were not on-file, and staff reported that the transcripts were not available at the time of inspection.

2. Staff #8 - The record did not include documentation of a translated education diploma. The diploma on-file has not been translated into English, as required. [Cited previously as Staff #14]
Plan of Correction: Inspector: The Director said the transcripts will be requested. A copy sent to the inspector for review.
CDC: 1) Staff #1 had a copy of her degree on site and was given to inspector. A copy of transcripts were sent to inspector 3/16/22.

Inspector: The diploma will be translated as soon as possible, if the staff person continues in the job position.
CDC: 2) Staff #8 has education on site by needs translation. Process for translation was started however the staff has not worked since late 2021. Will not return until center receives translation.
