Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 09/04/2024 and completed on 09/04/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9am and ended at 10:35am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 11 children present and two staff. The inspector reviewed five children?s records and two staff records on-site. This inspection document, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 09/17/2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the restroom located in the preschool classroom, a disinfectant spray was observed on a shelf not locked up.
2. The spray stated, ?Keep out of reach of children.?
Plan of Correction: Our center will ensure that all hazardous materials are kept in a locked place using safe locking methods that prevents access by children. Immediately after our
inspection, the disinfectant spray located in the preschool classroom that was on the shelf well out of reach of children is now in a locked place with a safe locking method.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, staff did not ensure children's hands were washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks.
Evidence:
1. Children were observed eating snack in the Pre-K classroom where staff used a sanitizing agent instead of having children wash their hands with soap and water or a disposable wipe.
2. When snack time was finished, the children transitioned to the rug for reading time without washing hands.
Plan of Correction: Our center will ensure that children's hands are washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after meals or snacks.Immediately after the inspection, teachers began having all children wash their hands before and after
meals and snacks, and continue this practice every school day.
