Older children were permitted to read quietly if unable to sleep. Infants not sleeping were being held and were playing on the floor. Staff in all rooms were supervising the children appropriately. Classrooms were found to be clean and well supplied with toys + equipment for the children. Recordkeeping was in good order. One area of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed was found. Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-J
Based on observations made, it was determined that multiple occupied cribs in one of the infant rooms were not spaced in a way that provided a minimum of 30" of clearance between the cribs for staff to gain access.

Evidence:

1. A total of 3 occupied cribs were found to be pushed together side-by-side in a corner of the room.

2. The greatest distance between the 3 cribs was measured to be approximately 7".
Plan of Correction: Management staff stated that the matter would be addressed today and they will work to prevent it from happening again.
