Inspector Notes

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted today to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 60 children present with 9 staff supervising. The children were observed hand washing, playing with floor toys, eating morning snack and lunch. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection, the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on a review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.
