Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 8:30 am-10:30 am. There were 43 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical plant, staff records, children?s records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in parent drop off, group play, reading books, circle time and eating snack. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an ample supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on review of records, one staff record did not contain documentation of a completed Sworn Disclosure (SDS) prior to hire.

Evidence: Staff A - record contained a completed SDS that expired 4/2023.
Plan of Correction: I will have them do today.

Based on observation, staff did not wash their hands with soap and running water before and after a diaper change.

Evidence:

Staff in toddler classroom did not wash hands before and after changing diaper of child.
Plan of Correction: We will remind substitutes that hands need to be washed after each diaper change.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, the diapering surface was not cleaned with soap and water and sanitized after each use.

Evidence:
Staff in toddler room did not clean and sanitize the diaper changing pad after using.
Plan of Correction: We already have new pad. We will switch to new one.
