Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
The center shall ensure disposable diapers are disposed of in a leakproof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot-operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system during disposal. The two step-on-diaper pails in the infant room were not operational. The lids had to be manually lifted by staff to dispose of the diapers.
Plan of Correction: Per the director: We will fix the diaper pail or purchase a new trashcan that works.
Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A
At least one staff in each classroom or area where children are present shall have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration; and current certification in first aid from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council. Staff #3, observed alone with a group of children, had CPR and first aid certification that expired one month and 22 days ago.
Plan of Correction: Per the Director: We will get proper documentation to state the employee has CPR training.
