Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 9:30 and 12:30. There were 87 children present with 19 staff supervising. The children were observed participating in a number of activities inside and on the playground. The physical plant, emergency plans, evacuation logs, attendance logs, menu's, allergy list and child and staff records were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are listed on the Violation Notice. Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that areas inside and outside of the center are maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition;

Evidence:
In the Pre-K classroom there is paint peeling from the wooden tray in the bathroom.
In the Sr. Preschool classroom there is chipping and peeling paint around the baseboard.
In the Jr. Preschool 1 classroom there is peeling paint on the wall near the changing table.
Plan of Correction: I will speak to the owner regarding repainting areas.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all outlets had protective covers.

Evidence:
In the Toddler 1 classroom, one outlet cover was missing.
In the Infant 2 classroom 2 outlet covers were missing.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that the first aid kit contained all required supplies.

Evidence:
The first aid kit was missing a first aid manual and ice packs.
Plan of Correction: I will replace these items in the first aid kit.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that emergency preparedness information was posted in every building and on every floor in which children are served.

Evidence:
The Emergency Preparedness Plan was not posted in the facility.
Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
