The shed in the pool area was unlocked, and the door was open. There were chemicals for the pool inside the shed accessible to the school age children.

Outdoor swimming pools shall be enclosed by safety fences and gates and shall be kept locked when the pool is not in use.
The gate leading to the pool from the playground was unlocked and open. There were school-age children in the area of this open gate. The pool depth closest to the children was 5 feet and has a maximum depth of 10 feet. The pool was drained but had approximately 6-8 inches of water in the deepest end.

Plan of Correction: The gate was immediately secured. Maintenance performed additional security precautions on the gate the following day. Each of the three staff members that were supervising the children outside were advised of new facility procedure whereby the pool gate must be inspected prior to children going to this outside area.
