Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 10/10/2023. There were 26 children present with 8 staff supervising and 2 administrators. The children were observed during outside play time, engaged in various classroom centers, and during lunch. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 10:20 am and concluded at 12:25 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation and staff interview, the center did not ensure the diapering surface was sanitized after each use.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 in the infant classroom was observed during a diaper change. The staff member sprayed the disinfectant solution on the diapering surface and then immediately wiped the surface.
2. The staff member did not allow the solution to air dry on the surface for a minimum of two minutes or according to the disinfectant solution instructions.
Plan of Correction: Talked with staff to make sure they are following the proper procedure.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-G
Based on observation and staff interview the center did not ensure that when food is brought from home, the following shall apply the food container shall be clearly dated.

Evidence: In the infant room staff confirmed there was 1 bottle of breast milk labeled with the name of child #5 but it was not dated.
Plan of Correction: Ordered labels to have readily available for each bottle.
