Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the director from 11 am to 12:50 pm. There were 43 children present with 9 staff providing supervision. The ages of the children ranged from 4 months to 4 years. The children were observe eating lunch, which consisted of tuna fish, peas, pineapple and milk. The Preschool 3 classroom were observed outside on the playground. Medication for two children were reviewed as well as 7 injury/accident reports. Five staff and children's files were reviewed during this inspection. The areas of non compliance were outlined on the violation notice.

Repeat Violation:
Based on observation, it was determine that inside of classroom was not maintained in a safe manner.
Evidence:
The Licensing Inspector observed a telephone cord handing in reach of the children in the classroom. The phone and cord was located near the front entrance of the classroom and was long enough to wrap around a child's neck.
Plan of Correction: The cord was placed out of reach during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, it was determined that hazardous substances were not kept locked.
Evidence:
The Licensing Inspector observed an unlocked Janitor Closet/Laundry Room which contained hazardous substances such as disinfectants, stainless steel cleaner, detergents, cleaners, abrasives and degreasers.
Plan of Correction: The hazardous substances were locked during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-B
Based on observation and staff interviews, it was determined that an infant cribs were not identified for use by a specific children.
Evidence:
There were no names identified on the cribs for Child A and B.
Plan of Correction: We will place the children's names on the cribs.
