Inspector Notes

An on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 3/30/2022. There were 19
children present with 9 staff assigned to their direct supervision. The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies, and nutrition. A total of 3 children's records and 4 staff records were reviewed.

The children were observed enjoying creative play activities, playing on the playground, creating art projects, listening to stories, and preparing for lunch.

The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on on-site observations of the center, it was determined that one piece of classroom equipment has not been maintained in safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
In the Elephants classroom, the toilet seat in the children's bathroom is broken. It is loose and slides from side to side.
Plan of Correction: I will ask maintenance to make a permanent repair or to replace the toilet seat.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-B
Based on a review of emergency preparedness documents, it was determined that the emergency evacuation plan does not contain procedural components addressing accommodations or special requirements for infants, toddlers, and children with special needs to ensure their safety during an emergency situation.
Plan of Correction: I will add the information to the emergency plan, and train all staff on the information.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A
Based on a review of children's records, it was determined two records do not include all required information.
Evidence:
1 - Child record B does not include: the father's home and employment contact information; documentation of a parental annual review of the child's record (the record was most recently reviewed by the parent on 1/15/2021.)
2 - Child record C does not include: the mother's employment contact information; the address for one emergency contact person; documentation of a parental annual review of the child's record (the record was most recently reviewed by the parent on 3/8/2021.)
Plan of Correction: Both parents will be asked for the missing information.
