Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on October 25, 2023 between the hours of approximately 10:30 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. There were 9 children present with the Provider and 2 assistants for a total of 18 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing outside, playing with blocks and completing a worksheet. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations
4Evidence: The foot-operated trash can used for soiled diapers was inoperable, causing the caregivers to have to lift the lid using their hands.
Based on observation, the family day home failed to meet all requirements when topical skin products, such as diaper ointment and sunscreen, were used.
Evidence: There were three diaper creams, one sunscreen, one eczema cream and one healing ointment that were not labeled with the child?s name.
Based on observation, the family day home failed to keep topical skin products inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. There were three sunscreens, two diaper creams and one eczema cream in a plastic storage drawer, accessible to children.
2. There were two diapers creams and one healing ointment on the diaper changing table, accessible to children.
Evidence:
1. There was a sunscreen located in a plastic storage drawer that expired in February 2023.
2. There was an eczema cream located in a plastic storage drawer that expired in June 2023.
