Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted today between 9:00am and 11:00am. There were 90 children present, with 35 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed during circle time, playing with table toys, building, and finishing breakfast.. A total of 8 child records and 6 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on observation, not all bathrooms were equipped with toilet paper.
Evidence
The bathroom in the Exploration C classroom did not have toilet paper available to the children.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection. Staff will check all supplies every morning.
Standard 8VAC20-780-520-A
Based on observation, over the counter skin products were kept beyond their expiration dates.
Evidence
There were five (5) expired diaper creams in the bin under the diaper changing table in the Exploration C classroom.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection. Staff will check expiration dates regularly to ensure none are expired.

Based on review of emergency procedures, two shelter in place procedures were not practiced annually.
Evidence
There was documentation of one shelter in place practiced annually.
Plan of Correction: We will begin conducing two drills a year.

Based on review of emergency procedures a lockdown drill was not practiced annually.

There was no documentation of a lockdown drill being practiced annually.

Based on review of children's serious and minor injuries, not all required information is being documented.
Evidence
The written record of children's serious and minor injuries does not include any future action to prevent recurrence of the injury.
Plan of Correction: I made new forms that should be the ones everyone are using. All old forms will be removed.
