Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:55am-10:31am with the provider on site. There were 10 children with 2 caregivers. A sample of 2 children's files and 3 caregivers/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: playing outside. Interactions between the children and caregivers were positive. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. The physical space, attendance records, drill record and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. There were no medications on site. Standard 8VAC20-800-320-G
Based on interview, the provider did not have the wood burning fireplaces and associated chimneys inspected annually by a knowledgeable inspector.
Evidence:
1. The provider stated she had not had the fireplace or chimney inspected.
Plan of Correction: I will get it covered as soon as possible.
Standard 8VAC20-800-50-C
Based on observation, the provider did not keep information contained in a child's record privileged and confidential.
Evidence:
1. The provider had the supplemental page from the 3/09/2022 inspection posted on the parent bulletin board. This document is considered confidential.
Plan of Correction: I will take it down.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-B
Based on review of two children's records, the provider did not have all required information in the child's record.
Evidence:
1. Child #1 (start date 1/03/2022) did not have the child's insurance policy number, proof of identity and name and address of previous childcares and the signed acknowledgement of the receipt of the liability insurance declaration.
Plan of Correction: I will be sure that the parent provides it this afternoon.
Standard 8VAC20-800-80-A
Based on record review, the provider did not obtain from the parent within seven business days of the child's first day of attendance, verification of the identity and age of the child and name and location of previous day care programs and schools the child has attended.
Evidence:
1. Child #1's file (start date 1/03/2022) did not have record of verifying the identity and age of the child or name and location of previous day care programs and schools the child has attended.
Plan of Correction: I will be sure that the parents provide the information this afternoon.

Based on observation and interview, the provider did not have a menu posted for the current one week period.
Evidence:
1. The provider stated they provide meals and snacks, but did not have the current menu posted for the current one week period.
Plan of Correction: I had misplaced the menu sheet. I found it.
