Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 03/19/2021 and concluded on 3/19/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection and the inspection was completed virtually via FaceTime. There were 10 children present and 3 staff. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not implement a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year for the year 2020.

Evidence:
1. Completion of a shelter-in-place drill was documented on 8/13/2020. There was no record of a second shelter-in-place drill completed in 2020.
2. Staff acknowledged a second shelter-in-place drill was not completed in 2020.
Plan of Correction: In the future, I will schedule one shelter-in-place drill before winter break and one after. I will put them on a calendar as a reminder to complete them.
