Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/21/2021 and concluded on 12/21/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 17 children present, ranging in ages from 7 months to 12 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 0 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-350-C
Based on observation and staff interview, the facility failed to maintain the required staff to children ratio applicable to the youngest child in the group. Evidence: on 12/21/2021, Staff A was alone with eight children ranging in age from 7 months to 2 years old. Children ages birth through 16 months require 1 staff person for every four children. Staff C stated she had to assist with the video inspection and could not be in the room to maintain ratio.
Plan of Correction: Ratios shall be maintained at all times.
