Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence:
1. The record of Staff 2 (DOH 02/28/2024) contained documentation of VDOE-sponsored orientation course dated 06/01/2023.
Plan of Correction: The date of the orientation expectation for new staff will be moved from 90 days to 60 days. This way we can ensure it will get completed.
Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that areas and equipment shall be maintained in a safe condition.

Evidence:
1. The Pre Primary classroom had unlocked doors that went into a kitchen space. There were knives in a drying rack and in a drawer in the kitchen.
2. The administrator said that the knives are not currently being put away in a locked drawer.
Plan of Correction: There will be locks added to the drawer that has the knives in it.
