Inspector Notes

Today an unannounced Renewal Inspection took place between the hours of 11am and 1:10pm. There were 4 classrooms observed with a total of 63 children with 10 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed creating bird feeders, being read to, playing and eating outside, and other organized activities. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today's inspection and can be viewed on the violation notice.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. There were several different cleaning agents and air fresheners observed on a open shelf in the bathroom of Classroom 1.
2. There was a bottle of spray disinfectant observed on top of the toilet tank in the bathroom of Classroom 2.
Plan of Correction: I'll remove them now and remind the staff to lock all cleaning products in the cabinets.

Based on record review, written allergy care plans do not include instructions from a physician.
Evidence: Three out of three allergy care plans reviewed did not contain a physicians signature.
Plan of Correction: I'll update the allergy care forms to include a physicians signature as the current forms expire.
