Inspector Notes

Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 9:50am and 10:50am. There were 5 classrooms observed with a total of 52 children with 9 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing outside, being read to, working on valentine's crafts and other organized activities. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, and medication were observed/reviewed during this inspection. Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, equipment in the center was not maintained.
Evidence: A foam balance beam was observed in the multipurpose room, being used as a separation barrier. The foam beam's exterior fabric had multiple rips and tears.
Plan of Correction: I'll throw it out today.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on record review, the center has not practiced monthly evacuation drills.
Evidence: The center's evacuation drill log shows that monthly drills were not practiced during January 2021, July 2021 and January 2022.
Plan of Correction: We will start putting reminders on both sets of calendars so that we remember to practice each month.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on record review, a written care plan has not been obtained for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence:
1. Child #5 allergy care plan is not signed by a parent of physician.
2. Child #6 and Child #7 do not currently have documented allergy care plans.
Plan of Correction: We have four families that will need to complete the allergy care plans. I have already copied the forms to give to the parents to have completed by their physicians.
