Inspector Notes
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A complaint inspection was initiated on 5/13/2021 and concluded on 5/13/2021. A complaint was received by the department regarding allegations in the areas of Staffing and Supervision, Care of Children, Programs.
The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the allegations of non-compliance with standards or law and violations were issued. Any violations not related to the complaint but identified during the course of the investigation can be found on the violation notice.
Violations
2Evidence: identified through staff interviews, that at approximately 6:50am there was 1 staff to 5 children in the First Steps room, where the youngest child in care was 13 months old. The classroom was out of ratio for approximately 10-15 minutes when an additional staff member arrived to work.
Evidence: Observed and identified through staff that between, approximately 7:30am and 8am, the preschool classroom was out of ratio. There were 11 children to 1 staff, then approximately 10 minutes later there were 12 children and 1 staff member. An additional staff member arrived at work early and was sitting in the staff break room, when the assistant director asked that they clock in to help maintain ratios in the preschool classroom.
