Based on record review and interview, the applicant for the family day home has not obtained the results of a central registry background check every five years for each adult household member.
Evidence: The most recent central registry background check results for Household member #1 is dated 1/18/2017. The provider confirmed that a repeat central registry background check had not been completed.
Plan of Correction: They will fill out the form today and I can get it notarized today. I'll put it in the mail tomorrow.
Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances, such as cleaning agents, were not stored in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence: There was a bottle of bleach observed on the floor next to the toilet in the children's bathroom.
Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-800-40-A
Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that the total number of children receiving care at any one time did not exceed the maximum licensed capacity of the home.
Evidence: The provider is licensed for a maximum of 12 of children in care at any one time. At the time of the inspection, the provider confirmed that there were 13 children in care.
Plan of Correction: I will fix it tomorrow.
Standard 8VAC20-800-690-D
Based on observation, the diaper changing surface did not meet the requirements.
Evidence: The diaper changing mat had several tears on the top surface, and was not non-absorbent and cannot be properly sanitized.
Plan of Correction: I have ordered a new one and it'll be delivered August 25th.
