Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was initiated on 5/22/2023 and concluded on 5/22/2023. There were 29 children directly supervised by 6 staff members. Children were observed engaged in group activities, tracing letters, learning colors and outdoor play time. The physical plant, 3 child records, 4 staff records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies and policies were inspected. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-240-B
Based on a review of staff records and staff interview, staff have not completed the required orientation training no later than 7 days of the date of assuming job responsibility.
Evidence: Staff #1 date of hire, 3/13/2023 and staff #2, date of hire 4/3/2023 do not have documentation of completing the required training, Recognizing child abuse and neglect. Both staff were observed caring for children this date.
Plan of Correction: Staff will take the required training and submit the certification to management.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-P
Based on a review of medication and medication records, the parent has not been notified that the medication authorization has expired.
Evidence: The medication authorization for child #1's epi pen expired on 5/1/2023. The parent was not notified that they need to renew the medication authorization form.
Plan of Correction: The parent will be notified at pick up that the medication authorization form needs to be renewed.
