Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider was caring for 4 children, totaling 11 points. The children were observed playing with toys, enjoying creative play activities, and waking from a morning nap. The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administrative records, emergency preparedness, child nutrition, caregiver training, children's records, caregiver records, background checks, programming, and the physical plant.

Standard 8VAC20-800-430-C
Based on observations, it was determined that the children have access to stairs with three or more risers without a protective barrier.
Evidence:
The backyard deck has an attached set of steps with five risers. There is no gate installed at these stairs.
Plan of Correction: I will install a gate this weekend.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-B
Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that one record does not contain all required information.
Evidence:
Child record A does not include the name of the child's medical insurance.
Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent for the information today.
Standard 8VAC20-800-830-A
Based on a review of emergency drill documentation, it was determined that the provider did not practice a monthly emergency evacuation drill.
Evidence:
The provider did not conduct a fire drill during the month of July, 2022.
Plan of Correction: I did a lockdown drill in July. I will do two fire drills this month.
