Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 26, 2023. The inspector arrived at 11am AM and departed at approximately 12:50pm. There were 48 children present and 9 staff members. A sample size of 10 records were reviewed which included 5 children?s records and 5 staff records. The Inspector observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed during group activity, indoor and outdoor play, lunch, handwashing, diapering, bottle feeding and nap. First aid kits and emergency preparedness documents were observed. No medications are administered at the center. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the Owner/Director at the exit interview.

Based on observation and interview it was determined that the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center be maintained safe condition.
Evidence:
1. In the outdoor playground area, the 4 plastic toy bins, in reach of children, had cracked and broken lids which poses as a pinching hazard to the children in care.
2. Staff #1 confirmed 4 plastic toy bins were cracked and broken.
The center responded with the following: Staff #1 will remove the broken toy bin lids today.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 will remove the broken toy bin lids from the outdoor playground area.
