Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 7/7/22 from 10:00 - 11:15am. At the time of the inspection there were 10 children in care, ages six months old to five years old (21 points) with two caregivers present. A third caregiver arrived during the inspection. Records were reviewed for five children and five caregivers/household members. Children were observed participating in various activities. There was no medication at the family day home currently. Emergency plan and emergency supplies were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program, and were discussed with the provider during the exit interview.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-800-350-E
Based on a temperature check of the water supply at the sink located in the family day home, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that the temperature of the water was maintained within a range of 105?F to 120?F.

Evidence:
1. The water temperature from the sink in the bathroom used by the children was 130.5 degrees.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed the water temperature was not within the required range.
Plan of Correction: The provider responded: The water heater will be adjusted to ensure that the water temperature is maintained within the required range.
