8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Inspector Notes

A subsidy inspection was conducted on 7/7/22. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-180-B
Based on a review of the daily attendance record for the family day home, it was determine that the vendor did not ensure that a written hard copy record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs is maintained.

Evidence
1. The daily attendance record for the family day home only had the names of five children recorded, but there were ten children present when the Licensing Inspector arrived.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that the attendance record did not document the arrival of the children tot he family day home as it occurs.
Plan of Correction: The vendor responded: The missing children were entered on the attendance record. Caregivers will be reminded to document the arrival and departure of each child on the attendance record as it occurs.

Based on a review of four caregiver records, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that all caregivers have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.

Evidence:
1. The record for caregiver #4 did not contain documentation of a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
2. Caregiver #1 confirmed that caregiver #4 did not have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Plan of Correction: The vendor responded: The certification for caregiver #4 just expired on 6/30/22. Caregiver #4 will be sent to complete a new CPR/First aid certification.
