8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 5/12/2023 from 3:45pmam to 4:30pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 13 children ages 5 years old to age 11 years old supervised by 2 staff. The physical plant, programming, attendance, menus, 2 staff records, 3 children?s records, 2 medications with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, emergency supplies and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in snack, arrival, socializing and transitioning to outside play. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training. There were no areas of non-compliance observed during the inspection.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
