Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/13/24 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm with program staff. There were nine children in care, ranging in age from five- to 12-years-old, supervised by three staff. The children were observed having free play then transitioning outside to the playground. Four child records and three staff records were reviewed. The Center has three staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid, as well as trained in Daily Health Observation. Program staff reported that there were no medications on-site for children, but the center has two staff current in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Required postings were observed. The attendance, menu, allergy list, and emergency drill log were reviewed. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on review of four child records, the program did not obtain a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Evidence: The record for Child D contained documentation of a diagnosed food allergy to nuts. There was no allergy care plan on record for Child D.
Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
