Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 6/8/2022 from 9:25am-11:30am. There were 105 children directly supervised by 19 staff with 3 administrative staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 5 staff records, 10 children?s records, 7 medications, emergency drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed eating morning snack, playing outside on the playground, and participating in circle time utilizing different musical instruments. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children and the center was clean and organized. An adequate number of CPR/First Aid, MAT, and Daily Health Observation trained staff were on site at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the Violation Notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 5pm on 6/16/2022. Please email me at morgan.bryson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure that diapers are disposed in a leakproof or plastic lined storage system that is either foot-operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.

Evidence:
1. The trash can located in the Infants room is not foot operated and requires the staff members to use their hands to push the lid in to drop soiled diapers inside the storage system after diapering.
Plan of Correction: Purchased new trash can that day.
