Inspector Notes

A complaint inspection was initiated on August 7, 2023 and concluded on August 8, 2023. A complaint was received in the Office of Child Care Health & Safety (Valley) on July 20, 2023 regarding supervision of children, programs and staff training. Interviews were conducted on 08/07/2023. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of training, staffing and supervision, and programming. A total of one child record was reviewed and two staff were interviewed.

The information gathered during the investigation does support a portion of the allegation, so the allegation is determined to be "valid". The exceptions to compliance are noted on the violation notice.

Based on interview, the center failed to ensure that the use of electronic smoking devices shall be prohibited in the interior of a center, in vehicles when children are being transported, and if permitted outside, shall be prohibited in the presence of children.

Evidence:

1. Staff 1 stated that during breaks Staff 1 would smoke the electronic smoking device in the adult bathroom.
Plan of Correction: The staff member was given a written warning. The owner/director covered the regulations and standards about smoking and vaping in a staff meeting.
