Inspector Notes

A complaint inspection was conducted on 03/07/2023 in response to a complaint received on 02/17/2023. The investigation included observation, interviews and review of documentation.
The complaint alleged inadequate supervision to ensure the safety of the children. A preponderance of evidence did not support the allegation. The complaint also alleged that parents are not notified of children's injuries. A review of injury records indicated parent notification however with incomplete documentation..

Information gathered during the investigation determined non-compliance with applicable standards and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program and discussed with the program director.

Based upon review of documentation and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that a written record is maintained of children's serious and minor injuries that includes all required documentation.
Evidence:
1. A provided injury report dated 2/13/2023 for child 1, does not include the time facility staff notified the parent of the child's injury.
2. A provided injury report dated 2/13/2023 for child 1, indicates that staff 1 and 2 as staff present at the time of the injury. Staff interviews revealed that , although staff 1 and 2 were in the building at the time of the injury, staff 3 and 4 were the actual staff present and directly supervising the child at the time of the injury.
3. An injury report dated 2/16/2023 for child 1, indicates that staff 1 and 5 as staff present at the time of the incident. Staff interviews revealed that, although staff 1 was in the building at the time of the incident, staff 3 and staff 5 were the actual staff present and directly supervising the children at the time of the incident.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Based upon review of the site visit and documentation received Princess Anne Child Care Department has improved their plan of action if an incident occurs while children are in the care of staff.
Corrective action:
1. Child care department met with staff 3 and 4 to discuss placement
2. Child care department ensured new injury report plan of action
