Balloons shall be inaccessible to children under 5 years of age. 5 balloons were observed in the play area of the family day home, accessible to children. All 6 children present were under the age of 5 years.
Plan of Correction: The balloons were removed during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-800-800-B
The provider shall review the emergency plan at least annually and update the plan as needed. The provider shall document in writing each review and update to the emergency plan. A review of the plan was overdue by more than one month.
Plan of Correction: Provider will review the plan within the next week.
Standard 8VAC20-800-830-A
The emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care. An evacuation procedure was not completed during the month of November.
Plan of Correction: Provider will complete two drills during the month of December.
