Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 11:05am and 11:45am. There were 4 children present with the Provider and one assistant for a total of 12 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed taking a nap, playing in a bouncy chair, and other activities. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-800-800-B
Based on a review of records, the provider did not review the emergency plan at least annually and update the plan as needed.

Evidence:
1. The emergency plan on file was last reviewed and dated on 6/10/2016.
Plan of Correction: I will review and sign off on it today.
Standard 8VAC20-800-830-A
Based on a review of records and Provider interview, the emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care.

Evidence:
1. There was no documentation of an evacuation drill being practiced in the month of July 2022.
2. The Provider stated that an evacuation drill was not conducted in July 2022.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure I practice and document the evacuation drill monthly.
